Between castle, old town, and nature.
Friedberg is underestimated. Located between Munich and Augsburg, often overlooked in favor of its larger neighbors, the city possesses something many wedding venues lack: a perfectly preserved old town, a castle serving as a registry office, a Baroque pilgrimage church, and just a few minutes away, the Kuhsee with its tranquility and open spaces. Everything is in close proximity, with no long distances between locations.
As a wedding photographer in Friedberg, I have accompanied weddings in Friedberg and the surrounding area. What I can recommend to you depends on what kind of day you envision and where you plan to hold your ceremony.
The Wittelsbach Castle towers over the old town and also houses the registry office. A wedding at Friedberg Castle is usually kept intentionally small: short distances, a quiet setting, and great intimacy between you and your guests.
The ceremony room, with its wooden beams and view over the old town, creates a very personal atmosphere. Immediately after the ceremony, the path leads down the castle hill through the old gate, a short, photographically rich stretch where many motifs naturally emerge. If you are looking for an intimate ceremony with minimal effort and powerful images, this is the perfect place.
The Friedberg Registry Office is the starting point for many couples’ wedding day. The advantage: you are directly in the old town and can transition to the next part of the day without long journeys.
Especially for a civil wedding in Friedberg, the combination of the ceremony and a subsequent short couple’s shoot is ideal. Within 20 to 30 minutes, very diverse photographic moods can be captured without you being separated from your guests for too long.
The old town is one of the biggest advantages for a wedding in Friedberg. The market square, town hall, cobblestones, pastel-colored facades, and the old city wall with its defensive towers are all close together.
For the couple’s shoot, this means many different backdrops within a short distance. No change of location, no loss of time, but a high variety of images.
If you prefer a more natural setting, you can move part of the day to the lake between Friedberg and Augsburg. A free ceremony at Friedberger See works particularly well here: open spaces, a view of the water, and a relaxed atmosphere without an urban backdrop.
Especially in summer, very calm, unposed moments emerge here. The evening light is soft, the paths are short, and the location never feels overcrowded. As a complement to the old town, a strong contrast between urban and natural is created.
Insights into a summer wedding directly by the water, natural lighting, relaxed atmosphere, and plenty of space for genuine moments.
Many couples plan their celebration in Augsburg and the ceremony in Friedberg. The distances are short, and the process remains relaxed.
I regularly accompany weddings between both locations without needing to factor in additional travel time between venues.
I remain in the background and only intervene when it makes sense, for example, during the couple’s shoot or when it comes to light and timing.
The couple’s shoot remains intentionally compact. Usually, 20 to 30 minutes are sufficient so that you can quickly return to your guests and truly experience your day.
If you are planning your wedding in Friedberg and are still looking for a wedding photographer in Friedberg, please write to me via the contact form or directly via WhatsApp.
Please briefly send me your date, your location (e.g., castle, registry office, or lake), and how you are planning your day. You are also welcome to include how many guests you expect and whether you prefer a quiet or lively accompaniment. I will get back to you within 24 hours.
